2003, 3rd Annual Pacific NW Can-Am Jeanneau Rendezvous in Pictures & Words
Marine Servicenter of Seattle/ Anacortes, WA. along with Fraser Yacht Sales of Vancouver, BC. and Jeanneau America of Annapolis, MD. came toghether once again and provided Northwest Jeanneau owners with a great excuse to go sailing and meet at Port Browning Marina in the Gulf Islands, BC. 35 Jeanneau Yachts and over 120 people attended the 2003 Pacific Northwest CAN/AM Rendezvous June 20-22. This is the largest and longest running Jeanneau Rendezvous in North America and it keeps getting better!
The fleet began arriving early on Friday morning with a few boats already in on Thursday night. Soon the dock began looking like a Jeanneau boat show.
"Rapscallion", Gil & Caryn Wood's brand new Sun Odyssey 52.2 with dark blue hull, white bottom, and full teak decks arrived to the cheers of Rendezvous goers. The fleet ranged from older Jeanneaus including Pat & Kate Taylor's Jeanneau Fantasia 27 to Gil & Caryn's Sun Odyssey 52.2 - the queen of this year's fleet.
By 8pm Friday, 35 Jeanneau yachts lined the docks at Port Browning.
A dock party and open boat social gathering started the fun-filled weekend off.
Great food provided by Port Browning and drink provided by Fraser Yacht Sales set the tone for new and old friends to meet and chat about their yachts.
Saturday morning greeted attendees with heavy rain, perfect weather for the Seminar Series inside the Port Browning Pub. Paul Fenn, President of Jeanneau America of Annapolis, MD. started things off with a seminar on what else but "Jeanneau".
Jim Rard, President of Marine Servicenter followed with "Maintaining your Jeanneau Yacht - Q & A Session". Several owners took notes as Jim brought attendees through a typical scheduled year of maintenance on a Jeanneau yacht.
Next was Ian Fraser of Fraser Yacht Sales in Vancouver, BC. with a brief seminar on "Cruising the Gulf Islands".
After a long but dry indoor morning of taking notes and asking quesions, Bob Hepple and crew enjoy the picnic lunch aboard "Spica" Bob's Sun Odyssey 51.

Stu Briscoe & crew aboard their Sun Magic 44 "Pyreneenne". Stu sailed all the way from Edmonton for the event, had to portage over the Rockies and Coast Range but said it was all worth the effort to attend the Rendezvous! Stu really keeps his yacht in Sydney, BC. and flys in but it does make for a good story....
Richard & Liz Flury enjoying the picnic lunch aboard their dark blue Sun Odyssey 43DS "L'Image". L'Image was one of 6 dark blue Jeanneaus in attendance painted by the pros at Marine Servicenter Anacortes Yard.

Several Jeanneau yachts and owners got out sailing for the Parade. Sailing on other owner's yachts was encouraged and many owners got a chance to try their "next Jeanneau".

The fleet sailing with Lummi Island in the background on what turned out to be a picture perfect Northwest summer afternoon.
Returning to the Rendezvous dock, what a site with George & Noel Miller's dark blue Sun Odyssey 45.2 "Certainty" to port, "Rapscallion", Gil & Caryn Wood's new dark blue Sun Odyssey 52.2 to starboard. Both yachts were painted by the pros at Marine Servicenter Anacortes.
Remember the palm trees swaying earlier aboard "Ambidextrous" then they were gone for the Parade...well Corbett Platt & wife Jill Guernsey were up to something and it was something goood...Blue Hawiians anyone?
Corbett & crew have a new "theme" drink/ party each year for the Rendezvous. The Blue Hawaiians were such a hit that the annual blindfold dinghy races never got off the dock.

With all the Blue Hawaiians flowing down the dock you can't even tell that it was raining this morning...
After Corbett's party the group stumbled up the dock to attend the annual BBQ Dinner put on this year "pool-side" by Port Browning Marina Resort. Great food and a spectacular view set the mood for more socializing.

Jeff Lehman simply cannot take anymore fun as he throws his arms up after the pool-side BBQ. Jeff won a Free Haul-out at Marine Servicenter Anacortes at the big "Door Prize Extravaganza".
After a fun-filled Saturday that went well into the night with live Blues music at the Port Browning Pub, it was time to say farewell. The annual Bon Voyage send off saw Jeanneaus one by one depart. Some continued to cruise while others headed back to home port but ALL said they would be back at next years event June 22-24, 2004 on Pender Island.
After the Rendezvous, several Jeanneu owners took advantage of Marine Servicenter's Anacortes Facility by leaving their yachts with us for annual maintenance and haul-outs. Pictured here from right to left are the Sun Odyssey 45.2's "Tangaroa" & "Certainty" along with the bow of Don Walsh's Sun Odyssey 37 "Windfall".
For all of us here at Marine Servicenter the Rendzvous is a way for us to thank our loyal customers. It brings us great joy to see how happy they all are with their Jeanneau Yachts! Keep sailing and speading the word...
